Thanks all so much for the responses and ideas! I got lazy and used an impact tool. I learned the hard way that a mechanic's touch is one of the best tools to have in your tool box. I think I will leave it for the moment but I know it will haunt me until It fix it right.

I would like to see the case hole and how much material there is before I would tap it out to a larger size. Your best bet would be a TimeSert or HeliCoil.
