Solid metal oil tank sight glass? was created by Deathrow Tull

Hello all, the oil tank from my '72 RT2 360 has a solid metal piece instead of the sight glass? Has anyone sen this before? It doesn't budge either, not sure how to go about getting it out. Pics attached.
Thanks!

 from near Salisbury, UK.

Never seen that before. If it were me, I would buy a replacement oil tank. If you're going to strip and re-paint, then the one from a DT2 and DT3 will fit and could be used.

I would consider drilling it and thread the new hole so I could use a slide hammer. Hard to tell from pics. Another thing you could try is putting the cap on tight and using your air hose with a rubber tip(so it will seal) blow air into the small vent opening. You’ll have to plug the bottom hole too of course.

The original eye is just pressed in so maybe that is too? Point it out to sea if you use air pressure lol.

Could just leave it as is & fit a T-union into where the oil line leaves the tank & run a thick clear hose verticaly near the tank to see the level constantly. I guess it'd need a oneway air valve in the top . Ok don't do that--stupid idea lol.
