74 front fender on 73? was created by Phyllo

I realize to some this might be travesty, and not saying I’m going to follow through with it, just an idea at this point… Has anyone tried mounting the 74-76 front fender to a 72-73?  I’m specifically talking about 250 , I realize 360 would be the same. Would the steering damper on the 73 have to be removed and maybe a custom bracket fabricated? It looks like DC Plastics makes a repro fender. I’m not a fan of the Preston Petty type at all and would want it to look good. As well as being able to return to stock.
 I don’t have a 74 for reference, just thought I’d ask here…
Thanks!

They made aftermarket brackets for a high fender.... you can probably find one on ebay.

I’m guilty of such travesty on a few of my bikes. I use universal fender brackets and Boss Enduro fenders. All of which I find on eBay. The fenders are getting hard to find lately, but there are a few listed right now.

Boss Enduro made two styles of front fenders. The ones I have mounted are the older style that are simply radius shaped. They also made a style more in line with the original Yamaha high fenders with a flat forward section and they called these High Wider fenders. But they mold in a front and rear mud flap that I think looks kinda weird. So I have a gray colored High Wider that I removed the front mud flap with a dremel so that it looks more like the original Yamaha fenders. I left the back mud flap in hopes that it will help keep the mud off the exhaust. This style can be drilled to match whatever hole pattern you have to work with on your lower triple tree clamps.
