DT 175 Head replacement was created by flidoug

I need to replace the head on my ‘74 DT 175. If I use a new copper gasket does it need to be annealed? Also, should I use any type of sealer on the gasket and/or head?

Some folks anneal all copper gaskets as a matter of course - some new, unused ones might have been sitting on a shelf for years. If the copper feels soft and pliable, probably no need.

I've not read of sealer being used on a head gasket, although there's likely to be a service manual in the Tech Library here that you can check in.

Thanks. Looked in the Tech Library but couldn’t find anything about replacing the head.
