The ignition component source & lighting coil assembly is in a bit of a state as is the mount plate from my CT3.
I have welded the plate ,as it was cracked at the bottom and cleaned it up.
New screws and washers, points and condenser.
However how can i clean the coil components them selves ?
I have bought some insulating varnish to finish up afterwards but not sure how sensitive they would be to say soaking in acetone and polishing with a rag ?
There is rust on the coil mount but the copper on the coil is tarnished to hell.
Any suggestions ?
Regards Ted

Great ,thanks Yamahahaha.
Just want to make sure the Evaporust for sale here is the same as in the US.
Does yours come in a grey container with a purpleish coloured label like this ?

That's the stuff that I have used Dave, although not on the specific components that you're looking at.

Very useful that it can be re-used. Talking of which, can phosphoric acid be re-used (I've got about 6 petrol tanks that need cleaning out! :EEEK)?

Yes is the answer Al.
I have also discovered something with Phosphoric.
Don't rinse it with water ! Wipe or air / heat gun dry it.
Nothing goes rusty afterwards.

Yes that is it... Like I said I did my stator as a last resort with the Evaporust... I did not worry so much soaking the flywheel.. It was also really crusty... Hope it works for you...

One thing I did learn first hand is that if you soak something long enough that has been painted it WILL remove the paint... I think Evaporust CLAIMS it will not harm paint but I found that it will if left soaking long enough... I forgot I had something soaking and after 3 days it started on the paint...But we are talking 72 hours or so... More than a senior moment DUH
