77-78 fork tubes in 71-76 lowers. was created by akara1
Does anyone know if I can fit the later 77-78 1M1-23124-00-00 fork tubes in my 74 DT360a fork lowers? My tubes are trashed and I'm having a hard time finding any. DC is out of stock and ive tried for a few weeks now to get a hold of Franks with no luck yet.
If the later tubes work but will be a little taller or something like that I am okay with that but I figured someone here might know?

I am wondering/hoping/going to try the same thing. I have heard about someone doing this in Australia in the vintage mx scene. It apparently gives a bit of preload. I also heard that they used the tubes and the internals........can't verify any of this though. Hopefully someone will have the facts.
Hopefully this is not taken as i hijack of your thread, but there is a question I would like to add to the above question - Are the 77/78 forks an improvement on the earlier forks? I have seen some members fit them to the earlier bikes, so am wondering the comparison between the two. Obviously there is a travel increase but I am more curious about ride quality.
Sorry that I can't answer your question.
Thanks
Ian

Apologies if you already knew this, but the same tube was fitted to the 250, 360 and 400 two stroke enduro models from 1971 to 1976, including the 1971 MX. I don't think that the MXs after 1971 had them fitted though. This might widen your market to search in.
