Place to buy cheap seats? 1980 GT80 was created by TastyChevelle

Hello all,

My GT80 is in dire need of a covered foam seat and seat pan, but I have the seat pan hardware.

I figured someone here might know a place or a guy that I wouldn't know of where to get these cheaper than brand new OEM.

Basically I'm trying to cheat the system.

Thanks

Looks like KDI here do the foam and cover. Scroll down for their link on the right hand side.

Here and fleabay are good starting points for the base.

Thanks! I'll take a look at those.

Also another question for anyone that might know, what other Yamaha models/years seats and seat pans would be compatible with a 1980 GT80?

A good starting point is to go to the website of someone like Partzilla (US based), CMSNL (Europe), follow your nose to the part you need, select the part, scroll down and they will show which other models use that part.

The information is based on what parts lists their databases hold - CMSNL, rather surprisingly, don't hold many parts lists for the European models and I doubt that Partzilla hold any. As I say, not a bad starting point though.

I will give a shout-out for KDI also. Dave Kolbo is an enduro enthusiast and has been involved with this site (in its various iterations) for a few years. If I can, I like to support those who are supporting me, just sayin' :)

The search feature mentioned about Partzilla should be helpful, but I suspect in that era the GT80/MX80 seats were pretty much the same (maybe gold vs. silver lettering?).

Seat pans can often be repaired. Other than that, they can be very hard to find in decent condition. It's awesome that KDI make the foam and sells the cover.

Looks like 1973 to 81 had the same seat on the GT1/GT80... maybe even more years. They didn't change that model much over several decades.

I don't know for sure. My guess is AT2MX and AT3MX might be the same? (For clarity, there were earlier ATMX versions that were more "Enduro" than the later models like yours)

Someone like Capt. Dave and others here know far more about those ATMX details than I do. I just know the AT3MX has a lot of rare parts... mine is not completely original but I love it anyway.

Someday I'm going to find an AT3MX parts list... haven't really looked... but it would be interesting to have.
