Oh My Darlin' Oh My Darlin' Oh My CT1B Key. You Are Lost and Gone Forever...

With all this hanging around the house these past several weeks, finally got around to bringing my CT1B from the shed into the garage, and try to get it running again. Just when I was ready to begin, looked for my one OEM key. It sat under a large towel, which covered the top of my tool cabinet for at least 7 years. Since I had just cleaned the garage a few days before, I knew it was no longer there, as I had moved it to a similar hide a year or two ago. However, it was not there either. The third place I checked was where keys for Enduro #2 & #3 were kept (in the house). They were present but not for the CT1B. Now I am getting steamed. Am pretty sure the key never left the garage, and checked my two stashes of Yammy parts, etc. to no avail. Even more frustrating is the Key# is 2416. I have one for a project AT1 I got last summer and it is #2417. I looked on Ebay later in the day for something and checked on the keys...only to find # 2414 for sale. I'd had enough, so closed up the garage and decided to chill out (rather than flip-out). If all else fails, I have a period complete ignition with key. Will either replace the whole thing, or if the harness is different, remove the connector plate and just swap out the key cores. Still, that key did not walk away and it has to be close. I will ferret it out one way or the other...!

It is hard to walk away but I commend you for taking a step back. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Just keep looking on e-bay. One will show up. Or perhaps someone has one on this forum they would let go of.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Frank. My stuff is pretty organized and I typically put things back where they came from. The only reason why the CT1B key was in the garage and not in the house w/the other keys was because I wanted it handy for accessing that cycle...

Noooo! I did not see that key at all...only a different seller w/#2414 for I think $10.95/shipped. Thanks for the lead, Wheels! Guess I ought to get one as it saves me butchering a spare ignition. If I find the other key, will then I will have a pair like the cycles came with originally...

Done! I got a $20.00 Master Card/Gift card from my tax prep guy, so that will indirectly cover this. Was thinking of getting one for my CT1, but that key is set up reverse image (some sort of commercial key blank) to the OEM type (and OEM will not fit in the ignition). That ignition was never altered from the original owner-to me-to a friend-to his son in law & back to me (Key# 2313). Added photos of my three Enduros to the initial post...

If running it is the name of the game, to keep your sanity, just unplug the switch & you'll be away.
