Ht1 clutch wont engage was created by jbrundy
I bought an pretty used ht1 that won't run and decided to fix it up during carona virus. I noticed that the the clutch wont engage so I took off the panel to adjust the pin and that didnt do it so I took a look at the actual clutch and tried to push the pin as hard as possible and it still wont engage. took apart the clutch, took off springs bolts everything, no corrosion, so reassembled it and same thing, pin doesnt have enough force to engage it and push the springs, im thinking the springs are too tight? any help would be appreciated.

Is the ball bearing present (sits at the far end of the pushrod)?

Sounds like your getting wires crossed & mean "disengage"?. If so then if you have the clutch cover off the when you pull the lever on the handlebar then you should see the clutch separate. If it lifts & doesn't separate then sounds like the plates are all stuck together which is common after sitting for a long time [years]. If the pushrod is adjusted in the left cover & feels [& looks] like its working--then, stuck together is my bet. Umm, if on the other hand i'm up the creek & it won't drive then its likely burnt out in the fiber plates but would stink to high heaven in there. Sorry if i've got the story wrong. My turn to make a cuppa [in lock down]--yes dear right away.

My old HT1 as found after year leaning against an overgrown bank besides a road & out in all weathers. Ran well with little work except fix the rotten header pipe & chain & sprockets i had lying around. Motor was stuck but freed up. good for 55mph anyday down our road. Hope you get yours up & running soon. Found a terrible video of mine running up the road. Fell in love with them when i assembled the first one at work in 1970. Sorry if i'm clogging up your post & happy to remove. Cheers.

Cuppa tea & catching up on Coro street lol. No hope for us. Not missed one since Ena Sharples, Mini Caldwell & Martha Longhurst plus Bobby the cat in the "60's. Sorry--ya probably too young to have heard of them haha.

Nope, I'm old enough (just!) to remember when Corrie first started. I've never been a fan of any soap, mind (boo!).
