81 DT175 top end on 73 175 bottom end. was created by Youngdrakeo
Quick question.
Can you fit the later model DT175 top end with the 6 bolt head onto a early CT bottom end?
I am building up a 73 AG175 motor. Same as the ct3. Slightly less aggressive porting I think.
I have a 74 dt175 top end to put on it. Has the 4 bolt head with the single plug.
Apposed to the double plug.
Any major differences from 74 Dt top end to the 81? Apart from been 6 bolt.
Cheers!

No, bolts down different. Check the base gasket between the two. That's always a good indication. Bigger base of the cylinder with studs further out & larger transfers. Think the base studs are 10mm instead of 8mm too by memory.

Earlier models had 4 "through studs" that clamp the head and cylinder to the cases.
The redesign that started with the monoshock uses 4 short studs to hold the cylinder to the case and six more short studs to hold the head to the cylinder... would require extensive work to make the swap.

Okay no worries it's a no to that idea then.
I have found a 74 Dt head that will bolt up.
Also have a high comp radial 125 head I might modify to fit the 175.
Thanks guys!
