72 CT 175...Worth?? was created by dwil4

So it was a lot rougher than what I had hoped when I got to the lady's house but I brought it home anyway. The engine turns over fine the oil n the crank case looks clean and the plug looks clean.. The seat pan was destroyed as well as the entire exhaust. Lots of rust but just curious as to what you guys think it would be worth or what you would be willing to pay for it as is. After I hear some thoughts from you experts I will tell what I gave for it. I just wanna see if I got a fair deal or I got roasted. Haha.

Value is in the eye of the beholder.
My number is based solely on the engine appearing to be complete and you say it's not locked up.
My opinion is the bike itself is toast and barely makes the Parts Bike category due to severe rust issues.
$175 max
But that's just my opinion based on buying several project bikes and a few parts bikes.
Doesn't really matter what you paid for it.
If you want it, you buy it.
Next?

$100 is exactly what I gave. I know if I parted it out I could easily get my money back (probably) but I have another 72 CT frame minus a motor so ill make one runner out of the 2.

Certainly here in the UK, the carb alone might be worth half of what you paid for it. Use what you need and sell on the other useable parts to cover your costs.

A good find, but we're always jealous of how cheap you folks on the other side of the "pond" can get those bikes for!

For $100 I would have dragged it home too, but I would still have had to think about it. Do you have a grit blasting cabinet? I think the best part is the motor.

You asked for "experts"... only thing I'm really expert at is managing to find most of the ways someone can screw up fixing something! :haha

27mm x 1.0 LH thread... I prefer the Motion Pro 08-0026 as they are great quality and cheap.

P.S. Search works pretty good here and stuff like this has probably been discussed dozens of times... hard to read and respond to everything here even though many of us try...
