deep6blue, try a dental pick, or an ice pick. Some type of sharp awl. If you can get at the end of it instead of the side of it, so much the better...

Deep6blue... Is it a Wiseco piston with the wire clip? Wiseco also used "spirolox" in their earlier pistons.

It's unknown the brand of piston. The only marking is the arrow. I've got a couple dental picks. I'll try that.

Yamaha uses both types of clips... I think all they sell now is the ones without the tang but older pistons don't have the hole to get in under the clip.

If you are replacing the piston, using a drill at an angle you can drill a little divot next to the clip to get a pick under the clip and pop it out.

Dang it. More waiting time.
I’ll have to order the wiseco circlips and piston pin, the pin in the wiseco is longer than the oem I just got in the mail.

What bulbs are you using for the gauges?
I can’t find the correct 6v 3w bulb in any of my surrounding parts stores.
