Tinkicker--
Let me tell you a short story--I got on here today, after years of not visiting the site. I was actually looking for information as to what happened to the Aussie based Yamaha IT site, but decided to have a quick browse and came across this thread. I started reading and found it highly entertaining and was enjoying myself (I've been there, too, and recognise the trials and tribulations you were going through), and then all of a sudden I noticed my name. And then again and again and again, always posting stupid stuff, even AFTER you tried to set him straight.
WHAT?! Apparently my forum account was hacked somehow by this character whom you have rightfully named "Needle". I was mortified. I clicked on the "report" tab, hoping that there would be some kind of note I could fill in explaining why I was reporting this, but no. Now the poor moderator has gotten a bunch of seeming innocent, if potentially annoying posts reported to him and is wondering why junglebiker is reporting himself. Hopefully he will read this?
Anyway, I've changed the password on my account and may soon also be changing the e-mail address. This is highly irritating, and I fully agree with any ire you may have felt for the "other" junglebiker. I am also pissed (American usage, not UK usage) at him!

I'm familiar with those XT/TT-R rear hubs!!
One of my customers came in once with an absolutely exploded rear hub on his XT225 Serow--he had hit a large pothole at speed while crossing the Markham Valley (here in Papua New Guinea where I live and work) on his way to Lae. It was the first time I had ever seen the cast iron lining come completely OUT of the aluminium hub. I still have the remains of that hub hanging on the wall in my shop. Thankfully it used the same hub as a1980 DT125 wheel I had tucked away in a corner of the shop, salvaged off of a wreck. Different part number because it was painted black, not silver, but otherwise the same. Now, 10+ years on, I still see that Serow around and it still has a black hub. I love building wheels. I find it very relaxing.

Junglebiker.
Fear not. The banned posts will show up with your name. When I view the thread they show up with my name.
Your name on these posts is not visible to anyone but yourself. Your account has not been hacked, its just the way the forum sometimes works.
The poster who got canned was called Yam fan.

Oh, thank goodness. I was really upset there for a bit! I never buy anything that has been restored. I did recently buy a XR400 (hopefully I can mention a Honda on here without drawing too much ire) which had had a lot of work done to it at some point in the past; big fin head, Carillo h-beam rod, forged 440cc piston kit, I suspect a mid-range camshaft, etc., "no expense spared" by some previous owner. It was sold to me as ready to ride and while it is true that I could start it and ride it, the front brakes were useless and the electrical system was a mess, (2 burned out regulators! Maybe I'll write more about it sometime), which resulted in my having to rewire the whole bike from the stator up. It's good now, though--currently my daily rider. I pity the next owner, who will likely rail bitterly about my non-standard wiring and about how I cared nothing about wire colours. What can I say? I'm running a not-for-profit shop in a third world country on a shoestring budget, and the wire I have in inventory is all either salvaged from automotive wiring looms or is just white. Vintage Yamaha handlebar switches (because I like those metal bodied switches, they hold up better under the tropical sun here) only add to the potential wiring confusion of a future owner. Of course, when the time comes, I will be completely honest about the wiring, which I suppose is the difference between me and the man who "restored" your DT.

Hello Tinkicker, I have just come back on the forum after about 4 years away and started reading this thread. To my amazement there were 3 posts from someone using my screen name. The language used is not something I would say. Mark T knows me well and I'm not like that.
This is a great thread BTW

Scootern29, fear not, the same thing happened to me and if you look back a few posts from this one you will find TinKicker explaining to me that anyone looking at the posts of a banned forum member will see his own forum name.

I missed the explanation. I was kind of freaked out over seeing the posts. During the time frame of the posts I was in bed recovering from radical cancer surgery. I know I wasn't that drugged up.....lol

I understand completely! I was very disturbed to find that some lowlife had apparently attacked my account and impersonated me for months, and very relieved to learn that was not the case.

I see it would be best if I go back to the first page of this thread and put in an edit explaining this occurrence.
Done..
