Took Thing for a longish ride, as it was charging OK. It failed, limped it home 10 miles, running terribly. Problem 1 is it stopped charging again, no alternator output when full fielded, so ordered brushes from Singapore. The ones in the stator are at or past the wear bar...again funny the electric start works, and the alternator doesn't but the brushes are clearly done so must be replaced. Second problem is the timing went retarded. I should have replaced the points but I always feel if parts are working, able to set timing in the first place then OK? Not in this case, point contacts are wiped out and the rubbing block on the points are worn 0.3mm from the new, replacement comparison. New points are back in, and it's timed. Waiting for the brushes on the slow boat from Singapore...

I'm always surprised by how redoing wheels make a bike pop. Every time! Now, to find a pipe guard. Lacing and truing wheels is true therapy, very satisfying, and completely worth learning the process.

Hey Evan, do you have an oil pump cover?
I just went to storage and rounded up a ton of parts. Maybe I have one. Will check on that soon.

Rick I do have the cover. I have an oil pump to rebuild, so when that gets done & pump hung on the bike, the cover goes on. Thanks though!
In your stash, would you have a pipe guard for an AT2/3?!

Hi Apex, how difficult is it to lace and true a wheel?
I haven't tried yet but I'm pretty handy as I'm a time served mechanical engineer and always looking to learn.
