I always have such a time with these.

so basket came out to replace clutch. The seal was fine to do.

then I go to put the basket back in. Carefully.
fiber,
rubber
steel,
fiber
rubber
steel
fiber
steel

when I get it back together, push the rod (and yea I remember the push rod). Nothing seems to move

tske it all out.  Hold pressure plate with hand. Push rods push out plate.

I did determine my fibers are crapola they don’t meet spec. Nor do the springs.  So that has all been ordered (ka Ching!)  but am I doing this wrong??  I have everything else by the book. Washer. Spacer. Basket. The whole clutch hoop de do. Washer. Nut. Push rod. Plate. Springs

I am still missing one screw so I only snug tightened.

I’ve watched at least an hour of clutch videos.
trying to learn lol

Next week I will have all new innards, 4 nice new springs, then we shall see.

thanks in advance

Are you trying to push the pushrod by hand? That's not likely to work.

You need the leverage of the worm gear and the levers to have any hope of lifting the pressure plate with the springs installed.

(and all you ever want to do is "snug tighten" the pressure plate screws)

Thanks Mark. I just want to be sure it is right!  On standby til new guts arrive. I learned the lesson last week of no need to go hog wild torquing down those screws, I broke the boss. 35 dollars for a nice used one,  a lesson I only need to learn once.  Hee hee!!

slow but sure. Various body parts coming together. New
wheel bearings tires brakes.  It’s coming!

You need to toss those rubber rings out. Also, are the aftermarket fibers you bought designed so as to 'not leave room' under them for the rubbers rings--just wondering, so an even better reason to leave them out. I'm sure i wrote that somewhere recently--maybe not here.

I ordered genuine Yamaha parts I have learned.
if I’m gonna drop 1100 bucks on bike parts, why cheap out and save 200 total when the quality won’t be there? I’ve ordered crappy petcocks, electrical crap that was just that. So unless I have no choice I go with Yamaha oem. Why leave the rubbers out, I’m just curious . Are they the appendix of the clutch, worthless and not needing to be there, only to cause trouble later?  Legitimately curious

thanks
