Aw crap!!  I got my seals in last night, was just finishing fighting  down the pressure plate.. snap… the screw sheared.  Then I tried to drill it out.  More crap.  Luckily I found a reasonably priced boss on the eBay. 

one step forward. Two back.  As Vonnegut said, so it goes… 

Decided on some good quality used forks with no pits or rust. This weekend probably all about frame and body:

if anyone has a good reference point for where to snug down the wiring harness, lmk!

If you are careful it's sometimes possible to repair broken spring pillars, with a CSK allen bolt, threaded in from the back.
