Eamonn Galvin from Cork, Ireland here! Love the old DT,s and bikes in general. I,ve been going to the Isle of man TT since 1969 and have photographed some great riders but always the Irish. Attached are my present bikes and Irish champion Derek Sheils from Dublin at St. Ninians crossroads at 160 mph at last years Classic TT.

My name is Jarad, 39, currently sweating in a small town south of Dallas called Ennis. When I was a boy, my dad sparked my love of motorcycles by giving me a ride on his bike during his lunch break (back in the days when you could throw a small child on a bike with no helmet and no one cared lol). 30-something years later, he passed that same bike on to me - a 1979 Yamaha 250 Enduro! It hasn't run since he garaged it in 1992, so I'm really hoping a global team of experts can help me get it running in pristine condition again!

Welcome! Nice bike and great story. I think you have a '75 though, not a '79. Looking forward to following your build, lots of knowledge on this board. The tech library is a great resource for tech manuals too.

Thank you for clarifying. When I got home from work and noticed the rear suspension I said roughly the same thing. Regardless, I'm very excited. I combed it over and it looks like the speedometer is going to be the toughest fix - at some point it got smashed. However, the bike only has 1399 miles on it which is super cool! My dad says some fresh fluids and a new battery and it would start right up, but I'm thinking it will need a rebuild - good time for some upgrades (if they exist)!

Welcome! from Salisbury, UK.

Funnily enough, I've literally just bought some RD400 bits from your neck of the woods.

Quite a few fans of the DT175MX on this site.

Welcome! and another great bike from father to son story.

If you want the speedo professionally repaired, maybe contact DEET here on the forum for a chat - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Maybe give the carb a clean and check that the petrol and two stroke oil tanks aren't rusty, then give it a go.

One important point and that is replace both sets of brake shoes, no matter how good you link they look. Old ones de-laminate and can cause a wheel to lock. :EEEK
