Thought I forgot about you viewers eh? Naaaaa.

T-Bone and I just took a 68 DT over to KDI headquarters yesterday.

( Not actual file footage )

We also picked up the tank and parts to get this thing moving along a little better.

( HEY Uncle Al , there is my sprocket hub !! )

And if you know me and tanks... Yep, started getting to the rust.
( Check out my tee shirt ! ) Represent that KDI brand !!!
Tell him I sent you !

It has been SUPER windy here the last couple of days , I mean 50 to 80 mph gusts !
So I kinda scoffed at working on the bike. Til yesterday...

T-Bone got outta his job at surgery center early and popped by to re-light my work ethics . And I Thank Scott for getting my arse off the sofa.
So back to the fuel tank for a ton of de rusting .
Started with white vinegar soak for 3 hours til I got antsy and dumped it out. Was burning daylight , and didn't want to take all night.
Moved on to ( My Fav !! ) Phosphoric acid for 1 1/2 hours ! :EEEK :EEEK Yes, It was THAT bad.

More fuel tank pictures Some before the acid.

Tomorrow I will add the acid back inside, and check for pin holes.
But so far so good.

Drilled a hole in the top of the piston last week. Hooked up an I.V. drip line .

153 days of soaking , torching and beating the snot outta that motor, we got it to move enough to bang out the wrist pin. MAJOR DAMAGE was made to the cylinder, con rod and crank.
I do not care. The thing is sooo rusted out !

I have never seen rust this bad.
Well... time to clean it up and mix and match parts for a runner.
Won't be long now.

And i thought my AT3 125 was bad! id say you got me beat in terms of rust in both the top and bottom end. It was a nightmare splitting the case and getting that armature thingy off, keep at it and she will live again!
