I would think a local machine shop could do that for you.

I know OP SwM was looking for an OEM looking 44t sprocket (did you find anything?)...
I am wondering, can you go 14 x 39 if you are not worried about looks, and just want to find something that works? I know there's gear calculators... I was just hoping to hear first hand if others were using another combo that worked, instead of the impossible to find 44t r sprocket. I've also come up short on any 44t's. The 39t looks readily available, in black, and not stock looking. Many thanks. 1971 DTE 250

eBay seller yourtrash-mytreasure has a 45 tooth. Not exactly OEM. Search for 1968-1971 214-25445-10-33.
Suggest a 15 tooth front sprocket.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

paoloventuri,
What I did someone had mentioned Sprocket Specialists in Utah.  Since I had an NOS 44T but the six cutouts were smaller than my DT1 (and I wanted correct match) I shipped the NOS sprocket to Sprocket Specialists along with a used 44T and they enlarged the six holes to match OEM sprocket perfectly.  The cost was very reasonable.
Best of luck in your search.

Sprocket Specialists has always been great to me...  they've made special sprockets for me they did not have cataloged.  I just gave them the info and in a few days I had them in my hand.  A+
