On the bottom of the engine, there is a bolt near the center that goes straight up into the engine.
Also on the bottom of the engine, there is another bolt that is at an angle.
Service manual shows draining the transmission oil by removing the bolt near the center that goes straight up into the engine.
I cannot find anywhere in the service manual that shows what that angled bolt is for?
If I owned a digital camera, I would take a picture.
I doubt if there is any oil left in the transmission with the worn out clutch seal, gear shift seal, and sprocket seal that I have to replace.

it's the detent plunger & spring that locates all the gears including neutral. If you accidentaly remove it just check your oil drain tray for the spring & plunger if you're not sure what fell out. If you took it out by mistake then it would still drain the transmission but take a bit longer as smaller hole. Thanks. ps, 'does' do neutral too though as stated above. IF you remove the angled bolt, put a pan underneath and make sure you don't lose the little spring in there. I ended up splitting cases for a transmission rebuild when it turned out the only problem was a prior owner decided to use it as a drain for the oil, then forgot to replace the spring!

A serious lesson learned there. Fortunately the motor really needed other work in there, but if your bike is slipping out of gear, especially in 4th and 5th, check for a missing spring!
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

Just for general info, I stuck a ball bearing under my detent spring recently to increase it's tension. I was hoping to fix a 5th gear issue, but all it did was make it just about impossible to find neutral.

They never go far & usually in the oil drain tray. Quite a long hollow plunger on those by memory.

Meant to say mine is a dt3 and it was gone when I got the bike so I have only donked around in the yard. I need it going good to practice on my short track instead of busting up my 500 lb street rod hooligan. (Or maybe me)
