Engine number was created by Bungy
Hi
new to group
I have a NVT 125 Rambler, which as the knowledgeable amoung you has a DT125 engine.
however the engine number stamped into the engine, which corresponds to the V5 is
AT2-10523K
I believe this will be a 1974 DT125, however the letter K is normally a number, so is causing doubt.
Can anyone advise
Many thanks in advance

A NVT, so I guess you're also in the UK?
It could be that Yamaha put a letter in engine numbers to show that these were supplied to third party manufacturers? If there is a NVT owners club, someone there might be able to confirm.

Hi yes, Midlands
I never thought of that, cheers, its a bit if a nightmare as some if the engines used are several years older then the dates of registration.
I want to get a few spares for the future, but Yamaha slightly changed so much, it's difficult without the definite year.
Thanks again

Presumably it's a kick start only model? I ask, as the US got electric start models and these are the models that CMSNL and Partzilla have parts lists for.
Is the carb a Mikuni? If yes, what are the numbers/letters stamped on it (you might have to rub away any oil/dirt to read!)? This info might give a clue as to the year of the engine. Also look for any numbering/lettering cast into the cylinder, head and cases - Yamaha often did this (also in wheel hubs, but I doubt you have Yamaha wheels!).

Hi
Yes kick start only.
The carb is a mikuni and has the following numbers 576 with 00 below.
The wheels have no identifiers and no markings on the cylinder heads.
Thanks for your reply, it's appreciated.

576 is the model code for a 1976 year (not USA) DT175, which doesn't necessarily help us!

The cylinder should have the capacity cast into it, usually below the last fin - can you see this? For a lot of the earlier DT models, the 175 top end will swap direct onto the 125 crank, so maybe someone's done this with yours (a previous owner did this on my 1971 125/175).
Is your bike a runner? If so, how does the engine feel?

By the way, photos of your bike would be great, but a) we have to use a third party host such as Imgur for this and b) you'll need to have made a dozen or so posts before the site (for anti spam reasons) will let you upload them.

Further to my previous reply, I see that NVT also produced a 175 Rambler.
