I am looking at this CT1 and need help identifying the pipe? Maybe a hooker? I don’t really need the bike but might buy it just for the pipe if it’s a good pipe. Thanks

Definitely not Hooker. Looks like a Torque Engineering pipe but several companies made "knock offs" that looked almost identical. They work pretty good...
I have a few pipes for the CT/AT... One Bassani for sure and 3 or 4 of the "torque engineering" type like that one... and probably even a factory Yamaha MX pipe. When it's light out tomorrow I will look and see... I think one of my Torque Engineering pipes still has the decals on the heat shield... I'll compare it to that one.

Pretty sure this is a "Torque Engineering" brand pipe...

That sure looks like it, thanks MarkT! Guessing they aren’t anything crazy rare or high in value? I tried just trading the guy my stock pipe with cash on top but he wasn’t interested. Can’t decide if it’s worth it to get the whole bike..

If it's anything like the Bassani pipe that came fitted to my CT1, then your ears won't thank you!

Not super rare as far as I know.. Torque Engineering pipes were reasonably priced and worked good... It's a simple design that was copied by others. Hooker and Bassani pipes cost quite a bit more back in the day as I remember it... and I haven't seen nearly as many Hooker or Bassani pipes out there these days..
A stock pipe (with baffle intact) is likely worth more these days? In terms of value, the guy did you a favor by not taking your deal in my opinion.
And yes, often louder than stock especially if muffler needs repacking. The other factor for those in the USA is they generally don't have a spark arrestor as required for use off road on public lands here in the USA.
Where I grew up spark arrestors became an issue towards the later 1970's. I was out riding trails once in about 1978 and got confronted by a couple officers when I returned back to where the truck was parked.. It was a little scary because just a few years before you could ride on almost any dirt lot and nobody bothered you... that changed and if the land was private, you needed to show permission to ride from the owner or they could confiscate your bike! We had no idea what was public land or private land most of the time. So we tended to run from any kind of officer of the law... (I escaped a chase involving a helicopter once by ducking into a ravine and hiding until after dark.)
Anyway, I had stopped when one officer started asking me questions and the other promptly burned his finger sticking it in end of the muffler trying to determine if I had a spark arrestor. (Bet he never did that again!). They asked me if I had written permission to ride there and I told them it was public land... even though I didn't know for sure. Turned out it was public land (whew!). I was advised to not ride so close to town. I listened and didn't ride there again.
P.S. I had a Skyway spark arrestor/muffler... it was stamped "USFS approved spark arrestor" but somehow the internal screen (that clogged up all the time) had a big hole in it and would have failed a probe test.

MarkT is correct regarding the Strader Engineering pipe. I have one on my CT1C. It has the Strader Engineering ”Good Guy” spark arrestor welded to it. It’s a great pipe and I believe I paid $195 less shipping. It was like new condition. So no they are not high dollar pipes like the Bassani and the Hooker pipes. I have purchased nine aftermarket expansion chambers for my enduros. Some are unknown manufacturers and like Mark said, there are lots of knock offs or copied designs. Sometimes only subtle differences like the heat shields.

No wonder the price of bassini and hooker pipes are up there, after seeing Shu’s collection! (:

Oops. I went to edit a spelling error and inadvertently deleted my response. Oh well. I sort of hijacked the thread so no big deal.
