I have a 1975 DT175 that we replaced the stator, flywheel, cdi, wiring harness with 1978 DT175. Bike was running great for a few months but stopped running while I was riding and will not start. Bike has spark and fuel and sometimes will run for a second and I'm thinking it's a bad stator or cdi. Looking for 1978 DT175 stator and cdi. HPI Ignition does not sell replacement for 1978 DT175, looking at other new complete ignition replacement for 1978 DT175 but need to know where to look and any suggestion. Jerry from Augusta GA. Thanks

HPI probably does have a kit, their cataloging is probably bad.  I helped Powerdynamo (now VAPE) figure out the applications for the 125/175's.

I just looked at Treatland and they have an HPI kit that would fit.

Both of the above options are 12 volt and not 6 volt so some extra work would be needed to convert.

I can also look and see what I have in my box of ignitions if you want to stay with a Yamaha 6v system.

Yes Mark, would be great if I could get a stock 78 DT175 stator, cdi. I believe the 1979 DT175 is same. Thanks

I will look but probably only have the improved 80-81 version if I still have a spare.

Sorry if i'm out of order but you say "still has spark" so my first thought is has it damaged the flywheel crank key putting timing way out.
Also has it pushed a crank seal out.
I'm not trying to do MarkT out of a sale, far from it, but just want you to delve a bit deaper to be sure or have you been there done that.

My mechanic has a spare 78 DT175 stator, cdi for his bike that we will install today. If stator or cdi is bad we may go with HPI kit that Mark suggested, if he doesn't have oem parts. Next check will be RT325 suggestion and Thanks for the post. I will do a post of what we find.
