3 POS KEY SWITCH ANALYSIS was created by pabdt
So, decided to have some fun last night. Analyzed a 3 pos key switch to see which pin goes where and how power is applied. Note, I have never used this switch on a bike, but have seen it several times in wiring diagrams and thought this might help others visualize how it works. If you see error(s), please let me know and I'll fix.

in case you break a wire and forget, where it goes, look carefully at the plate. Its written on it.

Very nice job! Love it!
Just be aware that there may have been more than one supplier or version of switches as sometimes the layout is different even though the switch functions are the same.
Also, there is a connection chart on many of the wiring diagrams that clearly map which wires connect with key in each position

Thank you for making the effort and time to do this!
To me, it’s amazing how complicated, yet simple these switches are. I never saw the wire label on the back, near the lugs.
