Bike running really lean was created by Thanney

Hi everyone,

back with that Suzuki TC100

Now that I have the bike properly timed and have spark it starts right up! Now I have a different issue…

The bike runs really lean. I tried to take it around the block to gently run it through some rmps and the bike only really has enough torque when I have the choke on. Even after it’s warmed up.

The only change I made to the fuel system is I converted it to premix (24:1).

Do you think I need to go up a size in jets and needles, or do you think I can richen the mixture enough through the pilot screw and raising the needle.

Any opinion is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Premixing shouldn't make the difference you're experiencing even if in theory it might. Was it running ok before. How long has it been parked up. Are you running it without the cover as cover on makes the air come via the filter which 'might' richen it a little. I guess check all jets in the carb for restrictions--clean the carb.

Suzuki pumps feed the crank bearings directly on the TC and TS models.  Consensus is that it's a very bad idea to remove the pump.   Some say you can premix BUT modifications must be done to the shrouds, etc to allow premix to the crank bearings.

Yamahas don't have this issue.

Ah.  The Suzuki CCI system.  I read somewhere, back in the depths of time, that it was originally designed to get around Yamahas Autolube patent?

Do not know much about the CCI system.  The only Suzuki I ever owned was a GT380 two stroke triple.
