I found the below on a facebook post, can anyone validate if this is true?

Yamaha XS750 (77-79) clutch plates have the same outside dimensions as the DT 250 and RT 360 bikes but the friction surface is wider on the XS parts. I confirmed that they function well in my '70 RT1. I just had to eliminate the rubber o-rings in the clutch pack and they dropped in. If anyone is looking for a cheap clutch upgrade, these work great and are widely available. The part number is 4H7-16321-02-00. I can also confirm that the XS clutch springs do NOT fit as they're too large, so don't bother with those.

Wow, great to have info like this. If they're wider did you have to run one less fiber or still all fitted up nicely. Thanks for posting info.
ps, don't do what i did haha to fit plates with a slightly bigger outer edge but the ears all lined up. Not sure what they were off, maybe my 465 from wayback. Still waiting for the basket fingers to fall off but it's had a fair beating since.

RT325: I didn't do this, I found this post on Facebook and asked if anyone on this forum could validate the plates fit.

Oh, Ok, thought you'd fitted them. Hope someone puts us right as sounds like a good plan if they fit. Cheers.

Doesn't surprise me at all.  Several Yamahas take the same basic discs and if you get rid of the goofy rubber rings you can use ones with wider friction surface.  I've used the IT175 discs in the later DT175.

Looks like i was mistaking "wider" for thicker in post #2.
I'm on the right planet now [third from the sun] haha.
So more surface area on each pad leaving 'no room for those pesky rubbers. Cool.
