I told myself 2 years ago when i retired "no more restorations" and no more buying bikes. Well since then some nice Yamaha bikes keep crossing paths with me. 1st it was the super nice unrestored 70 & 71 DT250's a few months after i retired. Then shortly after that a rare original 68 DT250 needing a restoration came my way so i busted out the tools one LAST TIME to restore it. No one passes up a rare 68 DT250!!

Now these 2 sweet matching 1983 XT200 & XT250 came my way today. Super nice, Super clean 4 stroke monoshocks. Both have clean titles, original owners manuals, Yamaha factory shop repair manuals, tool kits, original brochures and they have been kept up like very few bikes are! I couldn't pass then up.

Question is: Are there considered Vintage Yamaha Enduro's???

What's really odd is how much Yamaha changed things on each model? each item listed here are the opposite.

XT200 has black handlebars, steel rims, speedo on left side, silver forks, no fork boots, silver swingarm, smooth levels, tool kit in back, rectangle turn signals, silver horn.

XT250 has chrome handlebars, alloy rims, speedo on right side, black fork, fork boots, black steel swingarm, finger groove levels, tool kit under side cover, round turn signals. black horn.

Of coarse the gas tank and fenders and seat would be different as the 250 is a larger bike.

Both bike are fun and easy to ride. Much plusher and smoother then the older bikes. Have more power then i thought they would. even the XT200.

Skydancer, I had a 1982 Honda XL500 which I swear I could have won 1972 motocross races with.  It weighed (generously) 320 pounds but I got it when I was 27 years old and I rode the hell out of it.  They were way different from our old early 70s ATs, CTs, DTs and RTs but they were great bikes in their own way.  Enjoy, I would have bought them too.

Well after buying these XT's, working on them this summer. Riding them at shows and around my area both have been sold. Unfortunately they went to different owners. The XT200 went to Indiana. The XT250 went to a guy that had one years ago back in the day. He's here in Michigan. Nice bikes. I enjoyed playing around with them and riding them. I ended up converting the turn signals to LED on both bikes. They just work better being 6 volt bikes. I gave the original parts to the new owners. Both like the LED's better.
