Ignition Fault was created by Sedgey

Hi, I wrote a couple of weeks ago regarding not being able to get a spark to my plug on my CT-3 175. The advice was to check and change the condenser and points which I have done, the wire from the condenser to the points is connected correctly so as not to short out, however I am still unable to get a spark! sorry to sound vague but I am new to this and learning as I go! any advice would be really appreciated.
cheers
John.

Did you use Yamaha or aftermarket also best to clean the new points have you timed the bike to 1.8mm BTDC or set the points gap?

Hello Sedgey,
If you have an ohmmeter connecting one of its wires to your condenser soldered end and the other grounded to engine case….. points closed should read around   .1 ohm and when points open around 1.8 ohms.
This would be the first step a repair person would do and the results would determine what the next test is

Hi All and thanks for your comments.
I saw the bike running a couple of weeks before I bought it, it was a bit spluttery but running for a short period of time "seconds not minutes". I bought the new points and condenser from Yambits which are aftermarket! I'm not sure if you can still get new "old parts"? I will give have a go with your suggestion Dave and see how it goes.
Many thanks and if you can think of anything else please let me know.
cheers.

Does it not have a spark now? If there is no spark or you can see a visible spark at the points when kicking, the new condensor might be faulty.

Only get a new condensor if there is very visible sparking at the points.

Unscrew the plug end off of the coil plug wire and cut about a quarter inch off the wire and screw the end back on.
