 Looking for advice on how to get my oil pump cover to look more like the rest of that side. Simichrome polish and elbow grease? Open to other suggestions.
TIA!

They are clear coated at Yamaha. Once the clear coat is compromised and moisture gets in, aluminum corrodes. You'll have to remove the clear and sand for a uniform appearance. Use finer sandpaper as you go until you get uniform and scratch free. I end up with 3000 grit pads sometimes. There is 5000 grit too but I'm not that anal. Same process as doing your fork lowers...just have to experiment to get the amount of shine you want. I have Semichrome too. Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish too.

Unfortunately we built a big house and started having kids. All the “toys” were sold to pay bills.

Start with a less aggressive method before jumping to sand paper. Try 0000 Steel Wool and WD-40 on the Autolube cover first. That may get you what you want. These aren't the best, but they're before and after's of mine with the 0000 Steel Wool, WD-40 and a bit of paint;

Pedalcrazy,
I sent you a PM regarding a pedal car inheritance……
Hope you don’t mind.
