“Indeed there is a brass screw at the bottom of this.  Some heat.... nope.  Still soaking, but not sure this one is coming out”

What you are calling a brass screw I believe is your pilot jet, yes they get stuck, I’ve used “kroil penetrant” I have ruined 2 carbs trying to get them out, I had luck once with a reverse LH drill bit and another time with a regular drill bit and an EZ out. Takes a lot of persistence and patience, your carb looked to be very corroded, when I saw your carb pics the first thing that popped into my head was that ain’t going to be fun and that one might be a scrap pile candidate, wish you luck.

Looking good. It’s tough to try and bring back a good finish to the side cases when they are as ruff as what you started with. I have the same bike and I ended up painting mine……

Thanks for the comments.  Yep, that screw..... is not overly optimistic of coming out.  I havent tried the ez out (but on other screws on this bike the ez out was a no go.... things are just frozen together).

Some more pics of the head/cylinder.

Although the side cases are scuffed a bit, that doesnt bother me much.  Means it was riden.  These are going to come out pretty good when its all said and done (better than I might have first guessed!)

While we wait on parts, a game:  Name that bearing/seal.  Winner gets a gold star!

1 to 14 in the pics attached, take your best guess (maybe I missed some?)

Main housings are ready to begin reassembly.  Pretty amazing transformation from where they started.  And a turning point, in that things can begin to go 'together' instead of 'apart' (still plenty of that to do still, but there are some things that can begin around these cases.

I think I am just keeping up at a similar pace to where they are with the rest of the frame/bike.

That "brass screw" is the pilot jet. Very crucial in the operation at idle.

Cases cleaned up.  This means turning the corner to where things can start going 'together' instead of 'apart'...

Rather than flop this around on the bench, I made this stand.  It is 'not' a masterpiece, but might be a little more convenient.

Need to get this going 'together'....

btw - I wouldnt mind at all replacing all the bolts.  Is that a matter of searching one by one for used, or can I order sets?
