If you found oil in the pipe it's likely just loaded up with old oil from sitting...  it'll clear out.

Just in case, check and make sure trans oil level isn't dropping.

Bikes that pop and stall out usually have a grain of sand blocking the pilot jet.

Flywheel turning with a kick over doesn't necessarily mean the key hasn't sheared and the flywheel is off time. Need to pull the flywheel and see if the key has sheared/flywheel slipped to be 100% sure. Your symptoms sound to me like the key has sheared.

Edited: got the flywheel off gently but firmly haha. Key is in fact sheared . Going to try to find one that will fit in town today. I’ll post updates as they come. Thanks everybody !

You couldn’t be more right… I took it the nut and the flywheel retainer nut off, and I can’t get the flywheel off now. Must have sheared or slipped like you say. Now what would be a creative way to pry it off of the engine without destroying everything else?

Warning!
Do NOT use anything other than the correct flywheel puller ($15)
Otherwise you will be crying when you destroy the coils underneath the flywheel.

My experience:

The 360 is harder on these parts than the 250 because of the stronger kickback. I see more sheared keys on the 360s than the 250s. When this happens the damage to the taper on the shaft and taper in the flywheel makes it more likely to happen again. It is the mating of the surface area between them and the proper torque on the nut that gives the holding power. If the contact area is reduced by damage and then removing metal it will have less holding power. I use valve lapping compound and gently spin the flywheel. Then put chalk inside the flywheel and slide it on without spinning it, pull it off and see if the taper on the crankshaft is covered with no voids. The key is not what holds and prevents the flywheel from spinning on the shaft, it is to keep it lined up while tightening the nut. Having the timing set properly and a functioning decomp valve (not plugged up with soot) will help reduce the kickback.
