 About the only thing plastic or nylon in there would be the ballancer chain slipper pad

1973 Service manual is in the tech library here.  Probably use the DT360 one for things not shown/covered.

The balance chain is a disaster waiting to happen IMHO, I owned a SC500 when new and removed the chain, rode it for years. You may get some vibration but to I never noticed anything horrible. It's a torquey engine so you can short shift and keep the revs down. Those pieces may be from the chain guide.

A couple of people already mentioned pretty much the only thing it could be is pieces of the balancer chain guides.
