I'm wanting to put an old IT on the street but I don't want to beat the transmission up so I was curious about this. Doesn't have to be DT, could be XT or just whatever fits. Any help is appreciated. If this is the wrong subforum just let me know.

I've saved a TT250 wheel & sprocket to use in one of my older 360's because these ones have a bearing in the sprocket & i guess you know how bad the old style yamahas wear out moving on the hub extension. Mine is an 18" & think some were 17" so not sure which model year now. Not sure why running it on the original wheel would be harder on the gearbox as i'd thing dirt riding would be worse with going off & on over bumps & stuff. Good luck with what your doing. I put my YZ465 on the road to run in enduros so needed to be road registered as road bits were used to link up various loops off off road. But hate to say it--it wasn't very nice on the highway & was happy to be back on the dirt. Probably just the way i had it set up. Takes me back a few haircuts haha, --to 1980 G model-- or "81 by that stage then sold it. I drilled a compression release hole to make it easier to kickstart in enduros in difficult situations. Hole was open all the time like our AG175's & RD400's too. Drilled straight down as steep as i could do it starting a bit less than halfway between top of exhaust port & top of cylinder--say 1/3 above. Kept it inside the alloy outboard of the liner all the way to the exhaust port outlet & worked good. Sounded a bit fluffy at idle but that's all. Could easily block it off from the outlet with a grub screw if i'd wanted. Ag175's "in NZ this is" came like that to make them easy to start & more tractable at low revs for Mr Farmer following cows home at walking pace i guess. Anyway--forgotten the question now lol. Ps, welcome if you're new.
