SHIPPING A FRAME was created by dwil4

How do you fella's ship a frame or a wheel? I need to ship both from a little TTR 125. FDo you just find a box big enough? Post Office or UPS?

What Rick said. UPS will accept a frame wrapped in shrink wrap. Cover things like brackets that stick out with cardboard. I think Home Depot sells the rolls of wrap.

DISCLAIMER:

At least three years ago.. I shipped a CT1-B frame to one of our members. I am not claiming to have great experience in this area. I have an account with FED EX. I have had this account for many years. I don't use it very often. I had a quote - "to ship the frame, the engine, ( the bottom end was shipped in a different container). Because the frame is "bulky" after giving me a quote "they changed the price on me.. I had call FED EX on the telephone to get an adjustment in price. When I took the frame to FED EX they gave me one price. When it got to the destination "there was another price," I don't know how much more it was ( Let's use + 25%. ) I wrapped the frame like a burrito in cardboard and taped it as much as I possibly could to keep it all together. The reason that I'm giving this information is: "you probably should pay cash for the shipment and not use your account because they will change the price on you because it's a bulky item takes up a bunch of room in the truck FED EX ground." I hope this helps - it was not a pleasant experience. asco

That reminded me of shipping eBay parts via Smart Post. The way it worked, FedEx would send it across the country then hand it off to USPS for home delivery. It was usually the cheapest shipping cost for long distance. I started noticing my monthly eBay invoices were higher than normal for what I was selling. The Smart Post shipping charge went up somewhere along the line, FedEx was bumping the shipping amount, my profit margin was shot. A lot other eBay sellers complained.
Thanks Mark
