Tracing my bike's history. was created by ie305mp3

I live in the UK, have just acquired a ''72 DT250 DT2. It was imported into the UK "a few years back" according to the guy from whom i bought it. It came from Canada, apparently - there's a Transport Canada sticker next to the frame number.

I'd love to know its history. Does anyone know if there's there any mechanism to trace a bike's history based on frame numbers? Or, more informally, by posting images and simply asking does anybody recognise it?

Maybe you could contact the importer .
They might have purchase records .
I found out where two of my bikes came from in Canada. Mine came from the same guy in Alberta out of a shipment of 15 bikes in 2018.

Shyted,

When sourcing parts for it, don't look for parts for a DT250, it was called the DT-2, and almost anything that fits a 1968 - 1973 DT or RT series bike will fit, except for things like the cylinder, pistons, and other things that are specific to size differences, and the 1972 & 1973 are reed valve engines, so the carb mounts differ, etc.

GOOD LUCK!
