Custom Expansion Chamber for a DT-1 was created by Traderyoda
I'm putting a DT1B engine in a custom MX frame and my last job is tackling the expansion chamber. I have two beat up versions to work from so I know the dimension of the pipe and the conic cross-sections. My question relates to the stinger. The stinger OD is 1-1/4" thin-wall steel pipe. I have a NOS Yamaha baffle I found cheap... I'm guessing it's from the Enduro .
It's too long for the stinger and I'd have to cut it, but the OD at the fat end fits perfectly inside the pipe I have. My thought is a baffle might quiet things down a bit without robbing a lot of power. I know zero about baffles though. Not sure where to cut it, for example. Or whether the fat end of the baffle is supposed to fit tight against the ID of the pipe or if exhaust flow is supposed to go around it requiring a large diameter pipe.
Any thoughts? It would be nice to calm down the noise from the stinger a bit.
Does anyone have pics of the baffle in the pic mounted in an Enduro exhaust?

Try to find a can filter, they are straight thru so they give no back pressure and are really quite. They are pretty easy to make if you have access to a welder. It is a 1" steel tube, drilled, then fit into about a 3" dia. can about 8-10" long. The drilled tube is wrapped with fiberglass insulation. The one below shows what it looks like.
If not here is the type I'm not sure if this is the size but there are other brands and sizes.

That would certainly work - I've used these and the drum type as well. The reason for the baffle idea was to stuff it in the stinger and keep it looking original. I though a baffle would knock the edge off the 'sting' from the stinger.
