78 DT100 general questions was created by Samflorida

Okay so I have a 1979 yamaha dt100, I've only had it about a week have been promising because the pump hasn't been my main concern as far as priority fixes. But now I am having leaking from right side crank case. Some from around the whole and an even bigger pile dripping from oil pump cover well directly below it, I have attached pictures of the main leak. I know it's going to be something to do with the oil pump obviously but before i start i just want some general information about what I should be looking for/inspecting i will clearly have to remove both oil pump cover and main crank case cover, I know this is considered the wet side, so I will be draining the transmission first. I ordered a gasket set from gasket king.(anybody ever used there gaskets?) It will be here friday, I'm going to clean everything with simple green tomorrow and I'll take new pictures but that shows where it leaking under the oil pump gasket and what it looks like on the ground

Issues I have to address
1. Oil leaking from pump
2. Oil leaking from crank case cover
3. the oil kinda smells like gas
4. Runs kinda rough and spark plug is black

Let me just say something. I dont expect it to run like it did in 1978. I dont want it to be perfect. I want it to be reliable and be fun.

Any advice on what to look at/ inspect and what to take pictures of to show to everyone. My last bike was a 2005 harley davidson fxst so I'm starting over in my learning curve
