That is the sort of enthusiasm you must have to "collect" bikes in Australia - look on it as a bonus - an unexpected interesting "Road Trip" come " short holiday."

I just bought the same brand of expansion chamber as the one on that bike.

I got lucky and found NOS chambers for both of my CT175s.

I remember from when I was a kid there were so many "look alike" pipes being sold...
As a friend once told me "R&D" at the company he works for stands for "ripoff and duplicate"... so many of those early pipes look almost the same it's really hard for me to tell them apart... some have unique features like a heat shield design... but even some of the heat shields are extremely similar. The easiest for me to spot is the Hooker pipes due to their heat shield... Bassani seems to be somewhat unique... but for the rest it's hard for me to tell unless there happens to be a manufacturer sticker still on it. I really appreciate the experts here that can positively identify aftermarket pipes by the tiny details... they just all look the same to me.

This one has rusted through in numerous places, and I suspect that it isn't even a DT1 pipe because the headpipe is very small diameter. Put it on the pile for the scrap metal guy. No, not the whole bike, just the pipe...
Engine actually turns and has compression, good starting point but haven't opened it up yet.
This bike has to wait at the back of the restoration line, and it's a long line.

Good point!
I'm just guessing it's the same Strader pipe based on the design of the welded on stinger and the bolt spacing of the 2-hole heat shields. I know the Whispering Smith pipes had similar heat shields but the outlet of their pipe looked different.
Enduronut helped me figure out my other pipe.
