thanks, I believe the compression is good, the bike goes too well! But its easy to do so I'll give it a quick check. This idle is good once it settles, it just seems to be a weak mixture after reving or running. Stays at 2100rpm for about a minute and then it literally just drops back to normal idle.

So finally got the leak down test going and discovered a leak on the inlet to reed block joint. Everything else looks good but can't say for sure until I seal this up so it holds pressure
As its rubber to alloy, whats the recommended sealant to use on this joint?
The wine makers stopper with a shrader valve for the inlet and a second stopper for the exhaust worked well for a cheap leak down tester. I took the attached pictures while its still on the bike, I'll do some better ones when I take it all off if its useful to others

Nice job!

I use the non-hardening Yamabond (same as used to seal the center cases) or Permatex Motoseal grey.

Hi Mark, out of interest, where do you position the piston for doing leak down tests?
Cheers
Adrian

Some people like to have the piston at or near BDC as with the transfer ports open the pressure/vacuum gets to the top of the piston easier...
I don't care where the piston is. At worst, it only takes a few seconds for the pressure/vacuum to bleed past the piston and piston ring end gaps even if piston is at TDC. I use a hand pump (Mityvac) to apply the pressure or vacuum which is kind of slow and the pressure equalizes so fast I don't even notice it.
