From my GT80 to a YZ426F to my "new" MG1-T was created by Yamahopper
New to the forum here and excited for my latest Yamaha adventure. I came from a non-motorcycle family and purchased my first bike (75 GT80) at 13 years old from a paper route I had. Motorcycles have now been a lifelong passion of mine and I am gently moving from my offroad days to more on the pavement. My sister in law was looking to get a little scooter to ride around and she loves vintage things. She came across this 66 MG1-T and decided she didn't want to deal with a clutch. I told her if she didn't buy it, I was going to. SO, after fixing up her CT90 and buying my newest toy, I am all in to get this MG1-T running around smoothly. Loads of things I need to learn about this interesting little machine and look forward to learning and sharing along the way!

Looks great! Very complete with the optional buddy seat and pegs. My very first "real" motorcycle was an MG1-T and I do have one now. Same Vermillion color as yours.
You know how Dodge keeps putting their "Hellcat" engine in different vehicles? This was Yamaha's version in 1964. They took their step-through 50cc trail bike and installed their legendary YG1 80 (actually 72cc) engine.
It would be interesting to know if the ignition coil is located under the plastic side cover... that would make it a later production version. In those years "model years" were not a "thing" for motorcycles. Most states registered them as "year first sold" and not as "model year". This model came out in 1964 and was produced perhaps as late as 1967 or 68? (with very few changes) Early models came in vermillion (red) or yellow. Later you could get white or possibly black.
