This has probably been answered bu the steels are shaped like that from a certain year. Not sure why & never sure if to stagger them one at each spring post but think i do that "been a while". Leave out any rubber rings i can see there that fit under the plates as only help towards clutch slip.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve gone ahead and ordered replacement friction pads and steel plates - replacing these and adjusting the clutch once installed I hope gives many more years of service. I’ll let you know how it all goes!
