Hey guys,

So I've been neglecting this bike for some time now. I was trying to time the ignition when I realized the regulator isn't working. I want to update this thing and make it reliable and I'm wondering if there is a more modern regulator/rectifier I could use and retain the electric starter. Would just any 12v 4 wire regulator/rectifier work? It's my girlfriend's bike so It's nice to have as an option. Furthermore, has anyone ever made a pointsless ignition for this bike that allows you to retain the electric start?

Thanks guys!

What you have is a generator which is very different from most modern systems. I seriously doubt anyone makes an electronic version plus the points type you have are about as reliable as a rock most of the time and relatively easy to troubleshoot.

I've never seen an electronic ignition kit but you could probably adapt an LED trigger Allison XR700 (now bought by Crane) or a magnetic trigger Dynatek pretty easy if you can fabricate a trigger wheel and pickup mount. Dynatek makes a lot of bike kits so maybe they have something close.
