74 DT250 Rear hub removal help was created by EnduroTEX
I am removing both front and rear wheels for cleaning, inspection, fresh bearings/seals, relacing with fresh spokes and polishing hubs etc.. The front went smoothly and am about to start the relacing with everything looking good, replaced etc..
The rear has me stumped (first time effort here). I immediately noticed the bike had loose rear sprocket bolts and was already suspect of damage. Pic below shows that it clearly rubbed the center of sprocket our of round..... I have now removed the circlip but the Clutch hub as it is described on parts list wont budge. Is there a procedure for removal. The dampers may be shot underneath and it certainly would be easier to clean/polish and relace the wheel with this removed.... Before I start my well known "monkey boy" routine with a rubber mallet or worse i was hoping for a quick tutorial or recommendation..
Much Thanks!

Check out the link to another thread below - the centre hole of the sprocket is meant to be out of round!

Well Gr8uncleal- I am glad I asked and posted as I would not have guessed that!! Just read the other thread and it makes sense now with the circlip being accounted for in the engineering on this bikes hub setup. So no damage to the sprocket then but still- this hub seems it should come off easier after removing circlip .... hmmmmm.

You could try some gentle taps with your "persuader", or maybe spray some sort of releasing agent around it and leave it for a while.

Flywheel damper puller will pull it straight off. I put a little pressure on it and tapped w/rubber mallet.I would be careful though as those sprocket holes could be easily stripped.
I just got done polishing that hub. Oh fun fun.
A pic with it removed and polished.

Well a little PBblaster and some patience ( a tool which i rarely can find in the tool chest) and she finally came loose. Thank you guys. It appears there was a small metal burr of some sort that was hanging it up as well as just being old. Was able to get some things done to it today.
