Easy one…. Which direction does that oil pump seal face in the clutch cover?
flat side - inward towards crank….
and open with tiny spring side - towards pump?
or vice versa
kindergarten question but diagrams don’t really show

If I remember correctly, the seal pressed into the clutch cover is installed "vice versa" using your description.
Which way was it installed?

I have yet to put the cover back on as I'm waiting for the gasket to arrive
Time to think and second guess my self
I think I pressed the seal into the case cover with the open end and spring facing me / the crank...
Another reason to take a photo... think I'd learned
Sometimes it's 2 weeks between dis-assemble and re-assemble

That is the correct way. There is little to no pressure other than a small head of oil in the oil pump casing, so the seal does not need to be 100% efficient. Either way, fitting the seal wrong way would not matter.
The transmission side however could have have a significant pressure build up due to blowing crank seal or blocked vent tube. If this happens, air would slip past the seal and be introduced into the pump casing, stopping it working effectively. This is bad.
So high pressure side of the seal (garter spring side) should be towards the crank.
