Before I lace a wheel I measure the offset of the hub in several existing wheels for the same bike. Or at the very least the one I am taking apart. Do that for any wheel I lace. You can simply lace them up with incorrect offset if you don’t pay attention to what the end result should be for offset.

But granted, I don’t think you could get it off that far or you’d probably have spokes sticking through the inside of the rim. Did you notice anything peculiar when lacing? Are the nipples pretty evenly onto the spokes? None way up on the spokes and others with threads still showing. Got to think the problem could be in the lacing.

If you measure the offset I’m sure someone here can confirm the correct dimension for you

Why didn't I think of that?!

Measured with a straight edge across the hub to the outer most lip of the wheel.

Left - 20mm
Right - 25mm
