Just about done getting engine completely reassembled and I find a little round doohickey on the bench.
I hope it’s not what I think it might be, one of the plate sliders that guides the shift forks in the drum.
It measures 8.03 mm x 4.48 mm.
If someone has one of these close at hand would you please see what it measures. And I hope it doesn’t match my measurements!
Thanks

Sure looks like it could be one of the #14 in the diagram. Kind of beat up though. www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/1972/rt2/shifter-a
Hopefully an expert will come along and be able to tell you for sure.

Yeah. there are so many guys on this forum who know Yamahas inside and out that I’m sure someone will weigh in.
I looked at it under magnification and it does look a bit banged up. Also, the ID is rusty which would seem unlikely.
Thanks for your comments.

I found a good photo of the cam follower on cmsl website.
There are no specs cited but the cam follower appears to machined with a groove on one side.
Based on the photo of the part, I am concluding that all of my cam followers are installed in the transmission. If not, I’ll find out soon enough.
Thanks to all for your input.
