RT 360 Clutch adjustment was created by MK19

Hi,
I am trying to loosen the locknut to adjust the clutch on my RT2. Can anyone shed light on the correct technique please? I'm assuming the locknut should be turned counter-clockwise. Do you have to hold the adjuster screw steady and turn the locknut around it? or just turn the whole mechanism then adjust the adjuster screw all the way in and then back off 1/4 turn as the manual suggests?
This has not been done on the bike for I don't know how long and I just don't want to force it and break something.
Thanks.

Yes, they can take some effort to free up.

Maybe try some anti seize spray on it first, or perhaps even some heat. Try and hold the screw if possible, but this might be tricky.

Standard thread, so anti clockwise to loosen.

"Careful with heat...  plastic worm gear."

Good point Mark, although MK19 could take the opportunity to replace it with KDI's brass one!

Loosening it I don't hold the screw, but make sure to hold the screw when tightening it, so it doesn't snug up against the pushrod.

Best method I used is ring spanner on the nut and a hex drive flat bit in a small ratchet.
Looking at it face on, have the spanner at 4 o’clock, the ratchet at 3 o’clock then squeeze them together. This should crack off the nut without the difficulty of trying to hold the screw in position, all the force is applied where you need it.
Hope that makes sense.

Remove the cover then block the arm. Then don't do it up too tight. Not a good idea to turn it which lifts the clutch & force against it when pressure plate reaches its limit or coil binds the springs--or pressure plate starts pushing inside the cover. Not sure what would break first, & would likely get away with doing it but not worth the risk. Anyone used a 'Rattle Gun'?.

Thanks to all your advice I now have the locknut off. Does the push lever assembly come away from the side cover? I can't see how to remove it. If I am going to replace the plastic component with the KDI brass Worm Gear, how does it come out?
Lots of questions, sorry!

Hi, I now have the locknut off. I will order the brass KDI worm gear but how does the plastic one come out? I can't see how to remove the push lever assembly from the side cover. Does the worm gear just pull out?

Push lever should screw out of the cover by turning it clockwise with it facing you.
