First of Many was created by Bigredram

New to the forum since I am now the proud owner of a 73 CT3. This is the first of many questions sure to come as I get this beauty back to running like a top again.
She needs lots of work, carb, no baffle, clutch slips etc etc. Starting with the carb which leaks fuel, am I ok to rebuild the stocker or are there significant advancements is replacing with a new version Mikuni?

Clutch I am assuming will just need new plates which I can handle. No baffle so it obnoxiously loud, anyone happen to have a baffle and end pipe or know of a source?

Thanks in advance, happy to be part of this forum!

If you strike out on eBay try speed and sport INC. Just bought a DT1 silencer on there. May have the tip as well.

Welcome!

Might not get a lot of responses on some questions...  mostly because they've been discussed so many times here... like hundreds.

Baffles were commonly tossed when we were kids.  Hard to find.  Might search for threads on using ebay generic inserts.
Original carb is the advantage, keep it.  Buy original Mikuni parts as needed, aftermarket kits are questionable

Tons of detailed info on all of the above if you search for it.

Have fun and post some pictures when you can.

from the UK.
Partzilla, Rocky Mountain ATV and CMSNL are a good source of information as there parts lists cross reference which other bike use the same part, which is useful when searching for spares.
When searching for your baffle it might be worth looking for a complete exhaust which has the baffle, you can always sell on the exhaust after removing the baffle.
Here's a link to CMSNL for the CT3, probably only useful for information as you're in the US. If you click on the part you want, scroll down and you'll see the other bikes the part is used on.

I would add beware of sites which say they have these hard to find parts. They will accept your money then take 4-6 weeks to return it once they tell you ins no longer made.

Here she is, got a few beauty marks but a good base to start with.
Working on the clutch today since it slips. Not sure what the minimum thickness is on the plates but will figure it out.

Welcome from NZ. Clutch plates just get glazed up & tired of gripping but might still measure up ok. New fibers & give the steels a scratch & she'll be goo. Oh & toss those rubber spreader rings that are under each fiber--if still fitted, as better off without them. Exhaust on those resonate & ring-ding through the sidewalls too which doesn't help.
