I have a 360 that came with same tank colour, and serial number is about 50 on from yours. I am also in Aus - my tank is currently on a dt2.

Here is part of the 73 JDM Trail Range brochure . Unlike the rest of the range , the 360
doesn't have the stripe on the tank . I note also on the specs , 19" front wheel still .
I see also now your bike has the seat strap . Both US and Oceania models did not .
I'm interested to know whether there is a steering lock on the steering head .
That was a difference between RT2 and RT3 both in US and Oceania .

Try the 1974 diagrams/manuals. The JDM bikes often got new part designs the year before the US models.

Yes, my RT has a steering lock.
I bought my first RT3 as a bit of a basket case in the hope of building a good bike. I was offered a parts bike, the grey one, which I decided was in fact a better project. So now I have the bits from both bikes. I prefer the handlebar mounted indicators, the large round tail light and the Baja brown paint scheme. The seat I have has been reupholstered and had no strap. Thanks for your information.

Rick, maybe if I’d known more about it, I may have kept it original, too late now, but the next guy can do that.

I think Mark nailed it with the suggestion to check DT 360 A innards .
My Australasian parts book shows a damper rod like your sample .
As he said , JDM models often had upgrades a year ahead of Export models .

Thanks for all the input. Clearly its a JDM, with different fork components. I found a UK guy on youtube.... Classic Bike Restoration RT-3, episode 15 who does a resto on the forks and I have got all his bits, plus a few that I'll just leave out unless fresh info arrises.
I'll now install the rod with the parts as located in the pic. The other 2 parts, I'll leave out.
