RT3 Lower fork leg 'innards' was created by aretee3

When I stripped my fork lowers many years ago I neglected to note the order of the various parts on the cylinder (#8 in parts diagrams) The diagram doesn't show any of the bits that mine had. The pics below are what I remember to have been in there, I've numbered them in the hope that someone will put me straight in their order and the direction they should be facing...... and if something is missing.

This is a late RT3 with an engine/chassis of RT1-162859 and was origionally a very dark metalic grey.

I need help, and hopefully a pic or 2 of the correct alignment.

VIN lists are primarily for US models and yours does not look like a US model... it still should be close to a US 1973 RT3 though.

Hopefully someone will be along to answer your question. :Buds

Yours looks like a Japanese market RT2 . Their tinware colour was a Charcoal dark grey .
Front indicators are mounted on the headlight brackets , and the taillight is the older
Tombstone style . These were all areas of difference between JDM and US market models
in 72 .

Swoop, interesting how the VIN is quite a bit higher than the highest US RT3? Any thoughts on that? Would it still be a JDM RT2?

I'm not really up on the JDM models... I would expect the JDM RT3 to have the "swoop" (no pun intended) paint scheme instead of the plain-ish "YAMAHA" of 1972.

I hadn't referred to VIN numbers . It was just a visual observation .
I have a JDM RT2 brochure , and I think I may have a 73 Trail Range brochure too .
From memory the 73 was Baja Brown as US , complete with stripe .
I'll dig them out and post later in the day .
It's an odd mix , as Mark says .

Australia, and I have a feeling that this may have been a ‘grey’ import, ie. brought in privately.

It was my decision to paint it in Baja Brown, not grey. I like the 70s bling of the swoop and colour.
So, theoretically, I could leave those JDM ‘extras’ out?

Thanks, but not really. It appears that it’s a Japanese domestic bike with different internals. If nobody has info,I’ll leave the bits out and I’ll rebuild it to US specs.
I’m hoping for a pic of the whole assembly
